Master’s Programme in Interaction Design at Umeå Insititute of Design
The Master’s Programme in Interaction Design at Umeå Insititute of Design encourages students to explore interactive systems to design information-based products and services.
School: Umeå Insititute of Design (UID)
Course: Master’s Programme in Interaction Design
Location: Umeå, Sweden
Course dates: September 2023 to June 2025
Application deadline: 16 January 2023
Relationships matter – specifically, the interaction between product and user. In one of UID’s most specialised programmes, students are trained to explore the structure and behaviour of interactive systems, from computers and mobile devices to appliances and beyond.
We aim to enable designers to create sustainable, comprehensible and pleasurable information-based products, services and environments.
All courses are structured into blocks of 5, 10 or 20 weeks. Within each block, shorter course modules offer specific skills training, theoretical studies and practical exercises.
Studio courses are usually part of a five-week block aimed at learning specific skills and applying them in practical exercises.
Applied design projects form the backbone of the programme. Projects include lectures, field trips, site visits, group method work, user studies and studio work.
The projects are carried out in collaboration with external partners, and tutoring is given by our teachers and visiting professional designers.
You will work on human-centred projects based on specific user groups rather than product categories.
Applications to this course have now closed.
