Fashion and Technology is for designers who want to explore the future of fashion. Blending design and research, the course is about sustainable and inclusive ways to see, wear and create.
We focus on respectful solidarity and celebrate the idea of diversity. Our students use technology as a creative tool to develop critical design strategies, expand ideas of materiality and set up conscious production processes.
More than 40 international experts teach practice-oriented workshops. Melitta Baumeister provides insights into new materiality and form, Rickard Lindqvist teaches open-source strategies for fashion, Giulia Tomasello offers the basics of soft wearables, Anastasia Pistofidou delves into the making of biomaterials and Cecile Feilchenfeldt explains experimental knit design.
The programme’s partners make a variety of technologies available. Students can weave their own fabrics at Textiles Zentrum Haslach, cooperate with the Lab of Creative Robotics, use the facilities at Grand Garage such as laser cutting and 3D printing, and present their projects to an international audience at the Ars Electronica Festival.
International field trips, photoshoots, shows and exhibitions round up the programme. The bachelor’s course lasts six semesters and the master’s course lasts four semesters.
