Albert and Tina Small Center for Collaborative Design at Tulane University
The Albert and Tina Small Center for Collaborative Design at Tulane University tasks students to work collaboratively on community projects.
The Albert and Tina Small Center for Collaborative Design is the Tulane School of Architecture and Built Environment’s community design center.
Since 2005, the center has completed over 150 projects, and its current work includes design-build, urban design and planning, vision, graphic design advocacy and exhibitions.
Students in the School of Architecture and Built Environment’s graduate and undergraduate degree programs participate in the center’s projects in both curricular and co-curricular contexts, including research studios, seminars, graduate research fellowships, internships, summer fellowships and public programs.
The center responds directly to community-identified needs, ensuring students gain a deeper understanding of New Orleans and the broader geographies in which the center works.
In addition, students are asked to consider the role of design in shaping broader social and cultural contexts and their own role in shaping the built environment of the future.
Through research and community-based projects, attention is given to addressing inequity in the built environment through collaborative design.
