The Meelfabriek Garden

LOLA Landscape Architects and Piet Oudolf have designed The Meelfabriek Garden, a lush and peaceful stepping stone in Leiden’s Singelpark in the Netherlands.

For the public space of the Meelfabriek Garden, LOLA Landscape Architects worked closely with garden designer Piet Oudolf.

Together, a green oasis was created at the heart of the industrial heritage setting of the landmark complex in the city of Leiden.

Carefully framed, the garden is a “lushly planted and peaceful place designed as a nature painting,” said LOLA Landscape Architects.

“Each season reveals a new beautiful colour and shape, utilising the seasonal dynamics in its best interest.”

This project has been longlisted in the landscape and urban design category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
